The best among the young savages - performance competition

Every year after the vocational qualification and journeyman's examinations, the German craft sector honours the best young craftsmen of the training year in the three-stage competition PLW ("Professionals do something").

Procedure and objectives of the annual competitions
The performance competition of the German crafts, also called PLW ("Professionals do something"), has been held since 1951 under the leadership of the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH) and is under the patronage of the Federal President. Young craftsmen from around 140 professions are eligible to participate. Every year, around 3,000 craftsmen and women take part in the performance competition.  The aim is to promote the craft, to sensitize the public to the importance of the training achievements of the craft and to promote talented apprentices in their professional development.
